I was fortunate to travel to nearly every Province of Afghanistan from 2002-03 and 2009-10.  During those 24 months I met Afghans from every walk of life as I worked on Security Assistance missions to help the Afghan government rebuild their country.

The people I met were as diverse as they were kind (yet strong) and the landscapes were amazing.  Every form of nature could be seen except for an ocean.  These travel essays pay tribute to the men and women who gave their lives trying to bring freedom back to the Afghan people.
